What We Believe
1. God's Word:
We believe that the Bible is the complete written word of God. It consists of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments. That each and every word is the inspired, authoritative, and inerrant word of God. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth and final authority for faith and practice for all men and the church.
(2Tim. 3:16-17; John 8:30-31; 2 Peter 1:20-21)
We believe in the one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. All share the same nature, attributes, and perfections and are equally worthy of our obedience, commitment, and worship. God is the creator and sustainer of all things.
(Gen. 1:1; Deut. 6:4; John 4:24; Eph. 1:3-12)
3. Jesus Christ:
We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human, born of the Virgin Mary. He lived a life without sin, died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins, rose bodily from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over death, ascended into heaven to the God the Father’s right hand as head of the church and advocate and intercessor for all believers. He will one day return again for His church.
(John1:1-14; Hebrews 4:14-15; I Peter 3:18; I Cor. 15:3-19)
4. The Holy Spirit:
We believe that the Holy Spirit is God, a divine, eternal Person. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every believer from the moment of salvation providing the power for living, understanding of truth, and guidance to do what is right. He is the source of fruitfulness in living the life God has for each believer.
(2 Cor. 3:17; John 16:7-13; Acts 1:8; Eph. 1:13; 5:1)
Man is made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. Although man has potential to do what it good, he is marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin”. This attitude and nature separates man from God.
(Gen 1-3; Ps. 8:3-6; Romans 3:10-23 & 5:12-21; Eph. 2:8-9)
We believe that salvation is the free gift of God to man. It is brought to man by God’s grace and received by faith alone. By trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offering for forgiveness can man be saved from sin’s price. By faith in God alone apart from any works or human merit is man made a child of God.
(John 1:12 & 3:16; Rom. 8:29-30; Eph.1:3-13 & 2:8-9; I Cor. 15:1-4)
7. The Church:
We believe that all believers are members of the body of Christ, the Church. All followers of Christ are called to be a consistent part of the body coming together as groups of local believers for teaching, fellowship, prayer, and ministry. The purpose of all the church does is to bring God the Father glory.
(Matt.28:19-20; John 13:1-17; Rom. 6:3-5; Eph. 3:4-6)
8. About Eternity:
Because man was created to exist forever, he will live either eternally separated from God by sin, or in union with God through His forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is hell; to be in union with God is heaven.
(John 3:16; John 2:25; John 5:11-13; Phil. 1:21; Rev. 20:11-15)
Focusing on the essential beliefs needed for salvation and living the mandates of God’s Word and not on the differences within the church. We are committed to nurturing unity in the church and challenging all men to live out the truth demonstrated in God’s word to man, the Bible.
